about Curly Buddha

CurlyBuddha.com began in 2014 as a personal blog and virtual velvet couch upon which to take a much-needed rest - from digital overstimulation, from the mundane, and from ongoing cultural misrepresentations of Black womanhood.

The name “Curly Buddha” revealed itself as a result of founder Elizabeth Price’s longtime passion for and exploration of Eastern theology and spirituality.

Elizabeth is a writer, poet, journalist, practicing Buddhist and award-winning nonprofit professional.

Currently, she is the director of grants and foundation development at Vox.com, where she employs her grant writing skills to build relationships with philanthropies that support the growth and preservation of trustworthy news and other information online.

Outside of her work at Vox, Elizabeth is a creative writer for both print and digital mediums.

Her poetry and prose span subjects like identity, spirituality in the digital age, internet culture, mis-and disinformation, mental health, relationships, and more.

Her writing has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Dallas Morning News, The Colorado Sun, Hollywood.com, and others.

Her poetry was published in the August 2022 anthology Let the Black Woman Say Ase, published by The Aya Collective.

She is currently working on her debut poetry collection, to be published in Spring 2025.

Elizabeth graduated from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
